Breast Pump Hire, Flange Fitting (breast pump sizing) and ‘Meet the Breast Pumps’
There are lots of reasons why people use breast pumps. The pump market is a very confusing place right now, so we’re offering some services that we hope will help. We don’t and never would, receive any sponsorship or gifts from companies that exploit your natural parenting worries.
When we talk with you about pumping we will explore:

We understand that there may be times when using a pump is essential and urgent, we will always endeavour to meet your need.
Local Pump Hire
At That Baby Place, we offer breast pumps for hire. Not all pumps are created equal, so we only hire out pumps that support effective milk removal and help protect or build milk supply, but we’re happy to talk about all methods of moving milk.
We recommend that you have a flange fitting session to ensure you get the most comfortable and productive time with your pump – more info on that below.
But you don’t have to have had a flange fitting session to hire a pump from us, we can send you sizing information to help you get the best size for you. We can hire out the pump kit with the standard sizing that comes with the pump. We are very happy to do what feels right for you.
The pump unit is always reused, but the parts that touch your body come in a pack, they can be sterilised and reused, or a fresh new pack just for you. Unfortunately the pump packs are a bit pricy but we’ve tried to make the best of it with our plan below. We don’t have a home delivery option. You need to collect the pump from us at That Baby Place and return it to us at the end of the rental period.

For a long time, pumps just came with one standard sized flange (yup that’s a word!) This was often too large or too small – we are not all the same! We often hear people say “I just couldn’t pump” or “pumping always hurt” so it’s great that our latest knowledge about sizing opens up options for people who find pumping ineffective or painful.
At That Baby Place, we stock a wide range of flange sizes and shapes for you to try. We’ll work with you to find the fit that feels best and helps your milk flow most effectively.
You’re welcome to bring your own pump to your appointment if you have one. The pump manufacturers have all made their pumps slightly differently, so the flanges for one often don’t work on the others, and some don’t make a decent range of flange sizes at all. The pump market is vast and evolving, so to make sure you get a chance to use all the sizes and shapes, we can offer one of our pumps to help you get an accurate fitting. We can then work out how to get the best out of the pump you have or help you explore other options.
If you have not yet bought a pump, we have many of the pumps that are currently on the market for you to look at in person so you can at least press all the buttons and get up close before you make the important purchasing decision.
This session is purely focussed on fitting the breast pump and we wont have time to do a complete feeding assessment as well, if you think you’ll need longer, get in touch.
